The Secret to Social Media...

Do you struggle with social media? It is hard to keep up with current trends, be accessible, and maintain a loyal audience in our digital age. So, in today’s post, we’re talking all about what makes a good social media post, and how easy it is for you to do it!

Let's think about what makes a good social media post. For us, there are a few key elements that take content creation to the next level.

1.     Catchy opening

You need to grab your audience’s attention from the get-go. Ensure you have a catchy opening that hooks the viewer in and stops them from scrolling. Asking direct, rhetorical questions, using statistics, or short commands can engage and intrigue your audience. Like this;

“Did you know there are about 582 million entrepreneurs on earth?”

“Stop what you’re doing and watch this video!”

“Calling all business owners…”

“Don’t miss this expert marketing advice.”

2.     A good graphic

They say don’t judge a book by its cover – but we all definitely do! The visual aspect of social media is the first thing that we see as a user, so it’s so important to have visually pleasing and well-made graphics that draw your viewer in.

Here at Ivyhill Digital, we love using Canva, a graphic design tool that can be used to create social media posts, presentations, posters, videos, logos and more. You can use ready-made templates created by Canva and edit them to use for your own business’ social media pages.

3.     Establish your brand

Branding is not only about colours, fonts and logos. You are your brand, so let your social media pages reflect that! Write copy that engages viewers. Work out who your audience is, and adapt your tone of voice to that. Write to your audience!

4.    Finish with a call to action

All good social media posts end with a call to action in the caption. This could be:

“Visit our website for more details.”

“Sign up now to our newsletter.”

“Contact us today for more information.”

This leaves the viewer feeling motivated on what to do next. Why not give it a go on your next social media post?
